Woo hoo! My book's going on Safari!

Howdy,

I know that there have been requests made on this blog, and sent to me directly, requesting a digital form of the "Mastering Windows SharePoint Services 3.0" book. And on that front I have no news.

My editor is working on it...

Meanwhile, I got a request from someone concerning Safari Books Online (http://safaribooksonline.com). They wanted to know why my book wasn't available there.

So being a good girl, I called Safari Books Online to find out. After a few messages and callbacks, I am happy to announce:

Mastering Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 will be available on Safari Books Online as of the end of February!

So for those of you who have a subscription, or would like to get one, my book will be available through them very soon.

I consider this a step in the right direction concerning those of you who want my book in digital form.

((please make note, I have no control over how the book is digitized or displayed by the safaribookslonline people. I have no idea what it'll look like, but I'm sure it'll be nice to be able to do a search for terms, rather than thumb through the index.))

Yolanda,

Thank you for asking. I got an email last week from someone about my book on Safari.

I'd been told by the safari folks themselves that the book would be ready by the end of February (and that was being conservative). So imagine my surprise when I was informed by a savvy reader that, in fact, it wasn't anywhere to be found on safari books online.

I called safari the next day to see what was happening, fearing that maybe my publisher had pulled the book for some reason. Nope. Apparently Wiley (the big publisher that owns the tiny little division of Sybex that actually published my book) overwhelmed safari with a whole bunch of books to put online at the same time. Because of this, there was a sudden delay of most all of the Wiley books that were supposed to be available.

Which is why my book has been delayed.

I have been promised personally that my book should be available online at Safari really, really soon.

; )

And, as soon as I find out when that will be exactly-- I'll let you know.

What I would appreciate from you Yolanda, and everyone else wanting a digital way to access my book, please call or write to Safari Books Online (www.safaribooksonline.com) and ask them why my book is not available.

If enough of us ask, maybe that will let them know that we're serious.

Thanks again Yolanda for looking into it. I can't control my publisher or Safari, but you can have a significant impact if you want to.

Thank you Yolanda, I appreciate it. Feedback from people who are, or could be, Safari customers are taken seriously. It makes my book stand out as one that the readers want, hopefully motivating them to post it sooner. : )
